Rebooting (resetting) iLO In some cases, it might be necessary to reset iLO; for example, if iLO is not responding to the browser. Using the Reset option does not make any configuration changes, but ends all active connections to the iLO firmware. If a firmware file upload is in progress, it is terminated. If a firmware flash is in progress, you cannot reset iLO until the process is finished. iLO reset methods - Click Reset on the Diagnostics page in the iLO web interface. - Use the CLI or HPONCFG. For instructions, see the iLO scripting and CLI guide. - Use the iLO 5 Configuration Utility. - Use the server UID button on supported servers. - Use the iLO RESTful API. For more information, see here. - Use IPMI. For more information, see the iLO IPMI user guide. If none of these methods are available or working as expected, you must power down the server and disconnect the power supplies. Configure iLO Settings privilege First method Rebooting (resetting) the iLO processor with the web interfacePrerequisites Procedure 1. Click Information in the navigation tree, and then click the Diagnostics tab. 2. Click Reset. 3. When prompted to confirm the request, click OK. iLO resets and closes your browser connection. Second method Rebooting (resetting) iLO with the iLO 5 Configuration UtilityPrerequisites Configure iLO Settings privilege Procedure 1. Optional: If you access the server remotely, start an iLO remote console session. 2. Restart or power on the server. 3. Press F9 in the server POST screen. The UEFI System Utilities start. 4. From the System Utilities screen, click System Configuration, and then click iLO 5 Configuration Utility. 5. Select Yes in the Set to factory defaults menu. The iLO 5 Configuration Utility prompts you to confirm the request. 6. Click OK. 7. iLO resets to the factory default settings. If you are managing iLO remotely, the remote console session is automatically ended. You cannot access the iLO 5 Configuration Utility again until after the next system reboot. 8. Resume the boot process: - Optional: If you are managing iLO remotely, wait for the iLO reset to finish, and then start the iLO remote console. The iLO 5 Configuration Utility screen is still open from the previous session. - Press ESC until the main menu is displayed. - Click Exit and resume system boot. - When prompted to confirm the request, click OK to exit the screen and resume the boot process. 9. Optional: Use the default iLO account information to log in to iLO after the reset. 10. Reboot the server operating system. During the reset to the factory default settings, SMBIOS records are cleared. Memory and network information will not be displayed in the iLO web interface until the server OS reboot is complete. ALTERNATIVELY Performing a hardware iLO reboot with the server UID button When you initiate a hardware iLO reboot, the server hardware initiates the iLO reboot. Procedure To initiate a hardware iLO reboot, press and hold the UID button for 10 seconds or longer. Factory Reset of a HPE Onboard Administrator Module

HPE Onboard Administrator - How to Reset the Administrator Password If the Administrator password has been lost, the user can reset the administrator password to the factory default that shipped on the tag with the onboard administrator module. The onboard administrator resets a lost password to Lost Password/Flash Disaster Recovery (LP/FDR) mode. To reset the administrator password to the factory default: Option 1: Using serial console 1. Connect a computer to the serial port of the active onboard administrator using a Null-Modem cable. 2. With a Null-Modem cable (9600 N, 8, 1, VT100) locally connect to the onboard administrator. 3. Open a suitable terminal window utility (Windows or Linux), and connect to the active onboard administrator. 4. Press and hold in the onboard administrator reset button for 5 seconds. 5. To boot the system into lost password modem press L. The password appears as the system reboots. Option 2: Using USB drive with a script file NOTE: If the insight display USB menu buttons are locked, then the serial port method must be used. If the LCD panel is locked, then a large -lock- symbol appears on the screen. In this example, the OA administrator password is set to: Password123 1. Create a text file named reset_password.cfg with the one line command: SET USER PASSWORD administrator Password123 2. Insert the flash drive with reset_password.cfg file into the USB port of the active onboard administrator. The LED on the onboard administrator indicates which OA is active. 3. Using the onboard administrator Insight display, navigate to the main menu, select USB Key Menu, and then click OK. 4. If insight display PIN protection is enabled, user are prompted to enter the PIN. Select accept, and then click OK. 5. Select Restore Configuration, then click OK. The USB flash drive in the onboard administrator is scanned and the available .cfg files are listed. 6. Select the reset_password.cfg file, and then click OK. 7. The confirm operation screen appears, click OK. 8. Log in to the onboard administrator with the user ID and password specified. How to create reset_password.cfg? Create a text file and save it as .cfg In the text file add a single line as follows Script sample #1 (changing password for Administrator): SET USER PASSWORD Administrator Password123 Script sample #2 (universal): SET USER PASSWORD - Command: SET USER PASSWORD "" [""] - Description: Sets a user's password. If user do not supply a password on the command line, user are prompted for one. In script mode, user must supply a password on the command line. - Access level/Bay level: OA administrator (can modify the full name of others); OA operator and user access level users can change their own passwords. - Restrictions: Only OA administrators can modify another user's password. Only the Administrator account can modify the password of the Administrator account. The argument is case sensitive. If the password is provided in the same line as the command and contains spaces or hash characters (#), it must be enclosed in double quotes.
